Three deputies from Volusia County have stepped forward to provide loving homes for dogs rescued during an animal cruelty investigation. The saga unfolded when authorities responded to a distress call on East Beresford Avenue. What they encountered was distressing: emaciated dogs, alongside deceased cats, geckos, and birds, were found in appalling conditions.

The swift action of law enforcement was commendable, and Volusia County Animal Services played a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of the rescued animals. Sheriff Mike Chitwood lauded their efforts, highlighting the exemplary care provided during the investigation.

What truly warms the heart, however, is the compassion exhibited by the deputies. Dutch found a new beginning with Deputy Stubblefield, Ariel was embraced by Deputy Schramm for a fresh start, and Sgt. Pullin welcomed Odie into their home, according to a Facebook post by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Ashley Taryn Boucher, the individual responsible for the cruelty, faces multiple charges, including aggravated animal cruelty.
