How To Get Farm Buildings For Animals
Before you can have any farm animals, you must first build them a place to live. You’ll need to gather the required materials and gold, then visit Dinda the Carpenter to purchase the farm buildings you want.
Building |
Materials |
Price |
---|---|---|
Coop Level 1 |
|
2,000g |
Barn Level 1 |
|
3,000g |
Stable |
|
15,000g |
Each building will take two game days to complete, and then you can buy your animals.
While you’re working on getting your farm buildings, we highly recommend
building a silo
as soon as you can. It can
store up to 300 hay
and connects directly to your coop and barn through a hopper. To build one you’ll need
20 Scrap
,
300 Stone
,
two Resin
, and
2,500 gold
.
As you begin collecting animals, leveling up in your Ranching skill, and increasing the town’s rank, soon it’ll be time to upgrade your farm buildings so you can buy more animals.
To upgrade your barn or coop, go to the Carpenter again and select Edit Farm Buildings. Choose which one you want to upgrade, then select the upgrade option. Once you have the required materials, purchase the upgrade, and in two game days, you’ll have your upgraded building.
Here’s what you’ll need to upgrade your barn and coop:

Coop Level 2 |

How To Get Animals
Once you have a coop, barn, or stable ready, head to Jack at the Ranch to purchase the animals you want.
At the beginning of the game, you’ll only be able to buy three animals, provided you have the necessary housing for them:

Milk or Large Milk |
Chickens |

A horse allows you to travel easily around the island, but
you can only have one
. After your purchase, the horse is
removed from the available list of animals
.
As you increase the town rating you’ll unlock more animals to add to your farm.

How To Care For Animals
Once the animals are on your farm, you will need to feed them daily and pet them to keep them happy.
The happier the animal is, the more likely it will produce larger and better quality products.
You can get hay by cutting grass with your scythe, but you can also buy hay from Jack at the Ranch, along with a few other things that will help with taking care of your animals:
