Pet Wants to open a clean pet food, grooming store in Trophy Club in April
For many pet owners, their furry friends are more than just animals—they’re family. Ensuring their health and longevity is a priority, and for the owners of Pet Wants Roanoke, this belief is the foundation of their business.

“We are big fans of the philosophy that food is medicine. We think that is something missing from commercial pet food that Pet Wants hopes to provide to pet owners,” owner Cora Baker said.

To expand their mission and better serve local pet owners, Pet Wants Roanoke is excited to announce the opening of their new brick-and-mortar store, located at 2550 Bobcat Blvd., Ste. 101, Trophy Club, in April.

“The store will give us a place where pet owners can see firsthand the quality of Pet Wants products, get expert guidance on their pets’ nutrition, and purchase Pet Wants food and other items in person,” Baker said. “We will also have a section dedicated to local businesses, focusing on stocking Texas-based products and partnering with area pet vendors.”

The backstory

The inspiration behind Pet Wants Roanoke came from a deeply personal experience.

“Last year, we got a new puppy and noticed issues in his behavior and health right away,” owner Charlie Baker said. “This led to us searching out some options, and most of his issues could be traced back to his food.”

This realization set them on a journey to find better options, which eventually led them to Pet Wants, a brand that aligned perfectly with their values.

The couple was drawn not only to the company’s commitment to pet health but also to its strong community involvement and passion for giving back.

The Bakers began by selling pet food from their home and at local farmers’ and artisan markets, which allowed them to grow their customer base.

Fresh, small-batch nutrition

Pet Wants stands out from other pet food brands due to its commitment to providing fresh, high-quality ingredients and customized nutrition for pets.

“Our food is fresh, slow-cooked in small batches, and made without fillers such as corn, soy, wheat or sugar,” Baker said.

Unlike mass-produced pet food that sits in warehouses for months, Pet Wants products are made fresh. This preserves the food’s nutritional value and enhances its taste.

“Even the best quality commercial pet foods can’t compete with us on freshness,” Charlie Baker said.

Additionally, Pet Wants offers single-protein formulas, ensuring pets receive high-quality proteins such as lamb, chicken or salmon without unnecessary additives. This consistency allows pet owners to practice rotational feeding, switching between protein sources without causing digestive issues.

Pet Wants offers a wide range of options for pets, including seven different flavors for dogs and three for cats, with both grain-free and grain-inclusive food available. The food is designed to meet the nutritional needs of pets at all stages of life, from puppies and kittens to senior pets. Pet food is sold by the pound, allowing customers to purchase just enough for a week or opt for a larger, 40-pound bag.

A holistic approach to pet care

Beyond nutrition, Pet Wants Roanoke also offers grooming services, recognizing that pet health extends beyond diet.

Their grooming services will first open as self-washing stations, allowing pet owners to bathe their pets in a clean and comfortable environment.

They pride themselves on their cage-free approach to grooming. Rather than using traditional cages or cage dryers, Pet Wants uses open-at-the-top pens, ensuring pets remain calm and comfortable during the grooming process.

The products used are natural, healthy and pet safe, including shampoos that are gentle on sensitive skin. Each station is sanitized and cleaned after every use with pet- and earth-friendly products, prioritizing both the health of the pets and the environment.

In addition to grooming, Pet Wants Roanoke also sells a variety of natural “spaw” products and supplements to further enhance pet wellness. From calming balm to digestive enzymes powder supplement, the Pet Wants offers everything pet owners need to keep their furry friends feeling their best.

Future plans and customer feedback

As Pet Wants Roanoke continues to grow, the Bakers are excited about expanding their offerings and refining their services to better meet the needs of the local community.

In addition to the new brick-and-mortar store in Trophy Club, they plan to expand their selection of pet foods. They plan to soon expand into frozen raw food, which is extremely popular right now.

Looking ahead, the Bakers have plans to open five stores in total in North Fort Worth within the next five years, further extending their mission of providing pet owners with the best products and services.

Customer feedback plays a vital role in shaping Pet Wants Roanoke’s future plans. The owners have emphasized the importance of listening to their customers’ needs and incorporating their suggestions into their product lines and services.
