The Nutriment Company scoops up Spanish pet food manufacturer

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY and CABANILLAS DEL CAMPO, SPAIN — The Nutriment Company (TNC), a European premium, natural pet food company, recently announced its acquisition of Puromenu, marking its first foray into the Spanish pet food industry. The acquisition represents TNC’s third in 2025, demonstrating the company’s commitment to strategic growth.

Founded in 2014 by Magda Kayali and Raul Zamorano, Puromenu has experienced rapid growth, according to TNC. The company’s offerings include Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (BARF), gently cooked fresh meats, treats, chews and supplements for cats and dogs. Each formula is formulated with natural ingredients including muscle meat as the main ingredient and vegetable ferments and probiotics to enhance digestibility and palatability. The pet foods meet the National Research Council nutritional standards and are free from byproducts, meat meals, grains and synthetic additives, according to Puromenu.

“Since founding Puromenu in 2014, our goal has always been to set new standards in pet nutrition and create the best, biologically appropriate food for cats and dogs to live healthier, happier lives,” Kayali and Zamorano said. “Joining forces with The Nutriment Company feels like a natural next step in our journey. TNC shares our vision for pet nutrition, and together we can strengthen our impact in the market and continue to push the boundaries of what pets deserve in their diet.”

According to TNC, this acquisition reinforces its strategy on providing high-quality, natural pet food solutions, while also expanding its presence in high-growth markets. The deal is expected to broaden TNC’s product range and provide retailers with more access to TNC products in a single shipment.

“Magda, Raúl and the team at Puromenu are a fantastic addition to The Nutriment Company,” said Anders Kristiansen, chief executive officer of The Nutriment Company. “Already from our first conversation it was apparent that we think and act the same way, and I am thus confident that we can together replicate TNC’s broader European success on the Iberian Peninsula.”

In addition to the acquisition, TNC has announced it will be attending Iberzoo+ProPet in Madrid, an annual tradeshow for those in the veterinary and pet care space, from Feb. 26 to 28.
