Wynwood launches 2 fresh prescription diets at VMX 2026

MIAMI — Wynwood Dog Food Co. debuted two new fresh prescription diets under its FRESH RX® line — Low Fat Digestive Support and Weight + Mobility Support — during the 2026 Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) this week.

Designed to address common but complex nutritionally responsive conditions, the new FRESH RX® diets offer veterinarians and pet parents a fresh, gently cooked alternative to traditional prescription kibble and canned options without compromising clinical intent or regulatory standards, according to Wynwood.

“This launch is about listening to veterinarians and their clients,” said Michael O’Rourke, chief executive officer of Wynwood Dog Food Co. “Pet parents want higher-quality food options when their dog is sick, and veterinarians want solutions that work clinically and economically. FRESH RX® delivers both.”

The Low Fat Digestive Support diet is formulated for dogs with acute gastrointestinal upset, fat-responsive conditions, such as pancreatitis and hyperlipidemia, and possible adverse food reactions. Featuring a novel protein source, digestible ingredients and added pre- and probiotics, the diet supports gut health, stool quality and immune function while maintaining complete-and-balanced nutrition, according to the brand.

Weight + Mobility Support is designed for veterinarian-guided weight loss in overweight or obese dogs, while simultaneously supporting joint and musculoskeletal health. Unlike traditional weight management diets that rely heavily on fiber and calorie restriction, this diet delivers high-quality protein to preserve lean muscle mass, optimized satiety and Omega 3 fatty acids to help manage inflammation and support mobility, while safely allowing up to a 20% calorie reduction without nutrient deficiencies, according to the brand.

Both diets are formulated to meet Association of American Feed Control Officials requirements for adult maintenance and were developed by a board-certified veterinary nutritionist and a Ph.D. animal nutritionist, according to Wynwood.

FRESH RX products are built to mirror the clinical intent of existing prescription diets from legacy brands, while removing the constraints of ultra-processing. By leveraging whole ingredients, gentle cooking and higher nutrient density, Wynwood offers veterinarians a one-to-one fresh food alternative at a comparable price point to prescription canned options, according to the brand.

“Pet parents want better food options when their dog is sick,” O’Rourke added. “FRESH RX gives veterinarians a fresh, clinically aligned alternative without increasing the cost of care.”

The new diets are expected to be available in Q1 of this year.
